PRINTER DRIVER EDITOR
This program configures a LASERMATRIX Printer Driver
to match your printer.
LASERMATRIX Driver and Editor written by:
Bill Prendergast

Conklin, NY, 13748
(Please send $5.00 if you like the LASERMATRIX Driver!)
LASERMATRIX
Printer Driver works with certain
types of bit-mapped graphics capable printers.
The following pages will ask you for certain
parameters and ASCII escape code sequences that
are unique for your printer.
For each entry, consult your printer's manual for the
proper codes to use. If your printer is not capable
of a listed function (other than NLQ printing) then the
driver will not work on your printer.
All printer escape codes are ASCII characters entered
as DECIMAL numbers, seperated by commas. Press
<RETURN> after entering a code sequence.
Note:
- ASCII codes range from 0 to 255
- No characters other than numbers and commas
are allowed
- Each printer function is initiated by a sequence
of no more than 16 ASCII codes
Please insert a disk containing a
LASERMATRIX
Printer Driver to be copied...
This file will not be altered. A new one will be
created.
Enter
LASERMATRIX Driver name:
Filename entered is NOT acceptable or file already
exists!

normally sends 80 8-dot wide cards to the
printer. Some printers have different capabilities for
printing width in normal density mode (60, 72, 80
dots/inch density). Please enter your printer's width
(in 8-dot cards) for
NORMAL
density printing.
Select 60, 80, or enter a width:

Remember:
- Numbers range from 0 to 255.
- No other characters are accepted.
- Only 1 number is allowed.

Graphics/ASCII
LASERMATRIX
Driver uses your printer's highest
print density. The driver's interpolation routines
require that the high density mode be a multiple of
2 or 3 times the printer's normal density, usually
60, 72, or 80 dots/inch.
Examine the print density capabilities in your printer's
manual and choose your printer's highest density
that is a multiple of the normal low-density
capability...
Select the print density multiple below.
For example:
60 dpi/120 dpi: DOUBLE
72 dpi/144 dpi: DOUBLE
80 dpi/240 dpi: TRIPLE
Combinations such as 72/240 (TRIPLE) will work, but
will have a different width-to-height ratio than the
screen.

Enter the sequence of escape codes to initialize
your printer.
This should include:
- Code to reset the printer to a power-on state
- Code to set the normal line feed amount to
the height of JUST the 8-row printhead. On
many printers, this amount is 7/72 inches
Some printers produce better output if set to
unidirectional printing. Include codes for this
if desired:
There is an error in the line entered!
The problem is in the area highlighted below.
Remember:
- ASCII codes range from 0 to 255
- Codes are seperated with commas
- No other characters are accepted
- Only 16 ASCII codes are allowed
Select '

Enter the escape code sequence to print a line of
dot graphics output using the HIGHEST DENSITY
mode selected. This sequence should tell the printer
to expect '
' 8-dot vertical graphics bytes to follow,
Where:
X = 8 * C * D
is the number of cards selected for printer width,
is the density multiple selected, 2 or 3.
Enter the escape code sequence to send a
HALF-DOT-LINE line feed command to the printer.
This should be the printer's smallest available
line feed amount (near 1/120 inch or less):
Enter the escape code sequence to initialize the
printer for ASCII printing.
This is typically a reset to the power-on state, and,
if desired, changes to the default printer font, pitch,
and line feed settings:
Does your printer have an internal Near-Letter-
Quality (NLQ) mode available?
Enter the escape code sequence to initialize the
printer's NLQ printing mode:
